Membership​​

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.
  • Live in the Alexandria, TN area.
  • Hold a current Drivers License.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Willing to submit to a drug test.

Training

  • No prior training or experience is required.
  • All training, certification, and education are provided.
  • A 64-hour introductory firefighting and 16-hour live burn classes are required within 36 months.
  • Many other classes and certifications are available.

Application

  1. Complete the three documents below and return to City Hall or the Fire Chief.
  2. You will be contacted by a member of the department.
  3. Attend department functions.
  4. Interview with the Fire Chief.
  5. Membership offer.

Additionally, once certified, you must be available to respond to emergencies, which can occur at any time of day or night.
